Hurt’s Donuts Saves Alabama Town with New Donut Factory

COLUMBIA, MO – Hurt’s Donuts plans to expand their company with multiple new factories, the latest announced to be in Repton, Alabama. This new factory plans to create jobs as well as help build roads, sidewalks, waste disposal facilities, and recreation areas near the plant, with the help of city officials.

Repton’s main industry of shoe making has reduced its payroll by half in January and has had a 15 percent unemployment rate in the recent months. The new Hurt’s Donut factory will provide 700 jobs to the town. More than 100 families are also expected to be brought in to work for the company.

“We believe that the future of America like its past, lies in small towns like this.” company president Jackson McGillicuddy said, “We want to be an integral part of this community and make it just as prosperous as it should be.”

The construction of this $4 million factory is set to begin March 31 with completion set for November 15 and should be in full operation at the beginning of next year. It will make and package donuts for shipping to all parts of Alabama.

At least 13 towns in four different states were competing to be the latest pant location for Hurt’s Donuts. Repton was chosen for its desirable location, low interest rates, and willingness of city officials to transform the town. Alabama is also the home state to company president Jackson McGillcuddy, where he once owned a grocery store in Repton.
